RUDDER LOUNGE
STAGE C
8:00 RED NUMBER 40 (WILMINGTON, DE)
Original rock band that writes and performs introspective songs with healthy
doses of cynicism and humor. Their performance is energetic and appeals to music fans
who want to see musicians express themselves instead of "parroting" what is on the radio.
9:00 APE HOUSE (WASHINGTON, DC)
Ape House's acclaimed sound combines the unbridled energy of The Ramones and The
Buzzcocks with the melodicism of The Knack and Cheap Trick. "This is powerful, tight,
clever power pop with a super tasty and refined guitar sound " -Not Lame Records
10:00 MAPPARI (ALLSTON, MA)
Out of the Boston music scene comes one of the most exciting
rock bands to land in your hands. Mappari is a songwriter’s rock
band that avoids the traps of trends and maintains an
ever-growing prolific arsenal of material. Rock and roll is their
weapon of choice and their adoring fans are their muses. The fan
base has been exponentially growing since their first and sold
out show in 1999. Their loyal street team ranges from Pontal,
Brazil to Victoria, British Columbia.
"Solid pop tinted with heavy powerful riff rock has the crowd’s attention...
very radio friendly, complete with big catchy choruses and meaty hooks."
11:00 3RD DEGREE (BROOKLYN, NY)
3rd Degree are a rock band "straight outa" Brooklyn, NY. They
are preparing to tour in support of their second release "Very
Short Album."
By melting classic influences like Queen, AC/DC, and Cheap
Trick together with the modern sounds of bands like Foo Fighters
and STP,
3rd Degree has created its own blend of high energy melodic
rock.
12:00 PULASKI (MILLERSVILLE, MD)
Quirky, dual-guitar rock, memorable lyrics and vocal harmonies reminiscent
of Neil Young and Brian Wilson being simmered in their own juices mark
this Baltimore quartet's musical methods. No style is safe from Pulaski's meddling little paws.
FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 26th
RUDDER DECK
TWO STAGES - STAGES A & B
(B)5:30 FE (MOUNT LAUREL, NJ)
Calypso from New Jersey, Cort Farris played Steel Drum on The Sucession Movement's
We Need A Hill.
(A)7:00 STARGAZER LILY (PHILADELPHIA, PA)
Stargazer Lily is a band like a rock and roll amusement park. Whether you come for sugar-sweet sexy
soul, raspy-indie guitar growl or solid passion grooves you'll find satisfaction in this three-year-old four piece
from Philadelphia. Step right up...this roller coaster packs love, pain, joy, wit, anger, hope and sex into 3
minute and 15 second rock rides that will make you want to get right back in line and go again.
(B)7:40 CAPITOL AIR (LANCASTER, PA)
Combine the power and drive of American rock and roll with the artful tapestry of British rock and you
get the Pennsylvania based foursome, Capitol Air. Capitol Air will entertain you with a new, refreshing
sound and a powerful live show.
(A)8:20 MISSION 19 (DENVER, CO)
Mission 19, the four piece pop-rock outfit from Colorado, offers a unique
blend of great melody, strong rhythm, phenomenal songwriting and perhaps the
most entertaining live show in the Rocky Mountain region. As strong musicians and
fabulous entertainers, these guys are geared up to make a run to the top of
the national music scene.
(B)9:00 FOOLS & HORSES (BALTIMORE, MD)
Redefining Rock music in a way Baltimore has never seen, Fools & Horses rocks you with
the same star qualities that have made groups like the Beatles and the Who such a
phenomenon. Contagious lyrics, vocals and songs have made Fools and Horses the hot
commodity of Baltimore.
(A)9:40 MELODROME (BOSTON, MA)
Melodrome delivers contemporary rock music with a slight retro flavour.
Think U2 meets Beck and then hangs out with the Stones. Simple, pulsing
drums, smooth, tight bass lines, haunting guitars and a hypnotic vocal sound
combine to make a sound so deep it might change your DNA.
Melodrome blends sampling with the warmth of vintage gear to create
a sound that is theirs alone.
(B)10:20 THE JELLYBRICKS (HARRISBURG, PA)
Almost ready to release their third album, Harrisburg's The Jellybricks
combine the sounds of Matthew Sweet and The Replacements with
relentless hooks, killer riffs, and tight harmonies to garner acclaim as
"One of the hottest pop-rock acts around." -FMQB
(A)11:00 WAYNE SUPERGENIUS (YORK, PA)
Wayne Supergenius writes the old fashioned
kind of song. The big hook, the unforgettable
melody, the crafted solo that many who have
been sucked into the dreary world of the
image conscious have missed. Alt.country,
insurgent country, americana,
roots rock ........ The essence of
American music that Wayne
Supergenius calls rock and roll
(B)11:40 BILLIONAIRE BOYS CLUB (JERSEY CITY, NJ)
Billionaire Boys Club, or BBC, as some call it, was formed in the
summer of 2002 by four like-minded young men, tired of being
told what was cool and hell-bent on having their own say. Bored
with the same lame sounds being peddled over the airwaves, our
friends in Billionaire Boys Club resolved to be at the forefront of
a revolution years overdue—the re-birth of Rock & Roll. What
they stand for is simple: honest, catchy,
guitar-driven/harmony-laden rock with street credibility. They
have a sound and image that go hand-in-hand, but they are
definitely not all style and no substance.
(A)12:20 SOCK FULL OF PENNYZ (WILMINGTON, DE)
To the untrained eye, SFOP’s instrumentation remains true to
their roots: with a three piece horn section that can blast
infectious melodies into anything with a pulse. But the versatility
of the horns is what creates the true SFOP sound. They establish
an atmospheric depth in the background of a chorus that alludes
to the greatest of rock anthems, allowing for the melodic dual
guitars to drive the punk rock sound into the heart of the listener.
Meanwhile, singer Mark Lukach throws a new twist on the
devastatingly hackneyed nasal pop punk vocal sound. His voice
is certainly angst driven, and certainly poppy, but lacks the
‘shoot yourself in the head’ whine that has plagued the punk and
emo scene as of late.
RUDDER LOUNGE
TWO STAGES - STAGES C & D
(D)6:30 JAMES HARVEY (PHILADELPHIA, PA)
James Harvey began his musical journey through years of
classical training and performing, honing the technicalities of the
art of singing. Studying voice for over 10
years, Harvey experienced many triumphant moments: Making his Carnegie Hall
debut at the age of 17, multiple television appearances on 6 ABC, as well as
performances at the Acadamy of Music and many Philadelphia events.
Harvey has recently teamed up with Grammy nominated
producer David Ivory to find his sound in the studio and continue his musical journey.
(C)7:10 DARCIE MINER BAND (HARRISBURG, PA)
Think Stevie Nicks & Fleetwood Mac meets Jams Joplin w/ Big Brother & the Holding Co., along with
any tight band fronted by a rock female with a voice & songs which move from beautiful to
heartwrenching ballads that anyone at any age will relate to. Straight up rock songs with an unforgettable
melody that jam & there you have it, The Darcie Miner Band, whose music will last many lifetimes to
come.
(D)7:50 VIRGINIA (RED BANK, NJ)
Prepare yourself for the Virginia experience.
Virginia takes it to a new level
with her second release on Gig
Records. Working from her
ethereal, acoustic songwriting
base, she weaves her ambient
vibe with powerful pop hooks
and soaring vocals that are
impossible to ignore. Virginia
defies categorization, taking
her musical cues from the
storytelling tradition of
singer/songwriters, while
always maintaining a seductive
groove, and a mood driven,
melodic and insightful lyricism
that speaks to audiences of all
ages.
(C)8:30 JOE CONDIRACCI (HOBOKEN, NJ)

relationships. His lyrics and voice compel you to feel the happiness and the heartache.
With a smooth and soulful voice, Joe manages to capture his audience, and keep them
captive long after the set is over.
(D)9:10 BOWMAN (BOSTON, MA)
BOWMAN is a singer/songwriter, who has been causing quite a buzz in the Boston area,
as well as at several of the music conferences/showcases. In 2002, BOWMAN was
invited to participate at NEMO in Boston, EAT'M in Las Vegas, the Atlantis Music
Conference in Atlanta, as well as the 6th Annual Millenium Music Conference. In
addition, Billy Bowman was nominated for a Best Male Vocalist Award at last year's
Boston Music Awards. He has been catching the eye of several producers, as well as
A&R people for whom BOWMAN has been showcasing. Check him out while he's still
unsigned!
(C)9:50 NIKI BARR (DENTON, MD)
Upon seeing and hearing nineteen-year-old
Eastern Shore native Niki Barr it's easy to come to
the conclusion that she is "good for her age." But
repeated listening of her lyrics and melodies, and
the more times you see her perform live, it
becomes quite clear that Barr is just plain talented
period, age aside.
(D)10:30 HUCK (BOSTON, MA)
In a study conducted in Massachusetts
since 1994, it has been found that people who have attended Huck shows in
New York, Worcester and Boston or have listened to any of Huck's three CD's
have gone on to move out of their parents' basements, get jobs and form meaningful,
emotionally satisfying relationships with members of both sexes.
(C)11:10 10 HEADS HIGH (NEW YORK, NY)
New York energy
and attitude. Remember good songs?
(D)11:50 THE MAYAN FACTOR (BALTIMORE, MD)
"The Mayan Facor are a new band out of the Baltimore area. They are an independent band,
but don't be fooled. They are about 10 to 20 times better
than such regurgitated bullshit like Linkin Park. The Mayan Factor blend
incredibly melodic acoustic guitars with spacy electric guitar techniques,
atmospheric percussion (kongas and drums), bass that you can feel thumping
in your chest and vocals reminiscent of many bands." - AmericasBestRock.com
(C)12:30 HALESTORM (HARRISBURG, PA)
Halestorm has emerged into a harder rock genre with songs that are both gritty and
accessible. With the vocal chops to pull it off, Lzzy Hale has signed a production agreement with
producer David Ivory and there is no doubt that this fresh perspective on Rock Metal will indeed be
one thing that the genre has been starved of... and only Halestorm can deliver!

winning your heart. "Nicole's captivatingly beautiful
vocal style is downright awesome." Kweevak says of
Nicole's new release Stay Awhile, "...this sweet and
soaring collection of power pop strikes a chord..."
(B)7:40 DENI BONET (NEW YORK, NY)
Deni Bonet is a singer/songwriter and world-class electric violinist. Deni
performed with REM, Sarah McLachlan, Indigo Girls etc. before forming her own
highly regarded band. The Wall Street Journal described Deni's music as "like
Sheryl Crow meets the B52's".
(A)8:20 SAUL ZONANA (NEW YORK, NY)
NY-based solo artist SAUL ZONANA is an impressive new
singer-songwriter who captures the perfect combination of
very strong melodies and driving rock tunes. "It's the first of
those 'new power production' releases that REALLY deserves
the expression POWER POP"... "...the kind of melodic pop
music that not only sticks in your head, but has varied
production to the point where the musical flavor lasts along,
long time." (Mike Parley, Bullz-Eye.com)
(B)9:00 PILOT RADIO (HOUSTON, TX)
Pilot Radio, the four piece pop/rock band from
Houston Texas has been playing together since
1997. First public performance was in 2001,
momentum for the band has built ever since.
Currently on indie label Solar Flare Records and
touring extensively.
(A)9:40 EVOKA (WINSTON SALEM, NC)
EVOKA is a alternative rock band based out of Winston-Salem, NC. The band has been compared to acts such as the
Remy Zero, Ours, Kent & Radiohead.
EVOKA was conceived in May 2000 when Taylor, singer/songwriter, composed a few songs for friend Bryan Ledbetter
to hear. They decided to form a band and record an ep at Mitch Easter's Fidelitorium Studios.
Evoka has been touring the southeast and licensed music to MTV &
ESPN. They also played several high profile conferences and radio
festivals.
(B)10:20 STEPHEN RESO BAND (HARRISBURG, PA)
Stephen's heartfelt emotional lyrics and soaring pop
anthems have captivated audiences and packed
venues across the country. The young man from
Harrisburg has appeared on compilations with the
likes of Material Issue, Matthew Sweet, Local H,
The Posies, and more. Tracks from "Ordinary Life",
his 1st release on GIG RECORDS, was featured on
MTV's Real World Las Vegas last fall.
(A)11:00 THE FAIRWELL (MEMPHIS, TN)
As most know, Memphis is a place with a booming music scene. The
Fairwell has experienced every side of its diverse background. Coming
from four different music styles and 4 different backgrounds, they have
created a style of rock of their own. With the first EP produced by John Hampton
(Gin Blossoms, ZZ Top, Led Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughan.) With two European
Tours and many U.S. dates playing with the likes of 3 Doors Down, Saliva, Brother
Cane, Breaking Point, Michelle Branch, Beth Hart, Staind, Seether, SR-71.
The band now plans to tour on their own putting out a full length LP in late fall produced
by Damon Johson of Brother Cane and mixed by Kelly Gray (Candlebox, Queensryche, Second Coming.)
(B)11:40 LP (NEW YORK, NY)
To paraphrase an old expression, no artist is an island - and New York City Rocker L.P. is no exception. Her
full-throttle vocals are backed by the hardest-working band a singer could wish for. Her performances have been
touted by luminaries including Howard Stern, producer Phil Ramone (Billy Joel, Paul Simon), and New York Times critic
Ann Powers. She has collaborated with seasoned industry vets like Linda Perry (4 Non Blondes, Pink) and David
Lowery (Camper Van Beethoven, Cracker). But none of this was just handed to L.P. In a musical universe cluttered
with hurried knockoffs of the Next Big Thing, carving out her unique place has been hard work. Fortunately, it's a job
she loves.
(A)12:20 THE WITNESSES (NEW YORK, NY)
The Witnesses are garnering high praise all over NYC
and in national publications with their infectious
blues/soul/rock fusion. The band's vintage sounds
push the city's obsession with the late-70s a few
years back, and rightfully so. Their 3 song EP is full
of Stones-y riffs and the rowdy soul of rock 'n' roll.

RUDDER LOUNGE
TWO STAGES - STAGES C & D
(D)6:30 EVA (EAST MORICHES, NY)
"Eva", as some may come to think, is not "The Rebekka Carol Band".
Instead it is a chance to come together as four musicians with many varied
influences to feed off of each other and explore new avenues. Having their own ideas
and visions creates an environment of collective individuality and originality.
Now in the works of their first CD, Eva is on a mission to capture their audience
with honest and creative emotional music. Eva can be found in such venues as
The King's Cub, The Village Pub and The Orange Bear in Manhattan.
(C)7:10 THE BRIDGE (BALTIMORE, MD)
The Bridge is one of Baltimore’s premiere up and coming bands. Fusing Bluegrass, Funk, Jazz, Rock and
Electronica over a solid foundation of Folk and Blues, this quintet has quickly gained themselves a diverse and
devoted following. This ensemble, comprised of guitar, bass, mandolin, human beat-box, saxophone and
drums, uses their unique instrumentation and broad range of musical tastes to bridge the gap between
tradition and innovation.…An old school blend with new school flavor.
(D)7:50 OMNISOUL (NEWARK, DE)
Omnisoul's sound combines soaring vocals over
grooving beats, synthesizers, and guitars. Their style
can be described as something between Radiohead
and John Mayer. "Climbing Ladders", their newly
released EP, has received outstanding reviews and
has been featured on www.garageband.com.
(C)8:30 LOVEDRUG (CANTON, OH)
Like many great bands, there is something hauntingly spiritual and honest
about Lovedrug. Generically described as a Coldplay/early Radiohead mix,
the Ohio-based rock band musically delivers to the more attuned listener
highbrow art akin to Mercury Rev or Sunny Day Real Estate, crossed with the pop
sensibilities of Third Eye Blind and the arena grandeur of Queen. Lyrically,
Lovedrug reveals a writer wrestling with the demons that face us all, winning and losing all at once.
(D)9:10 ERIC JAMES (PITTSBURGH, PA)
As one of the writers of The Cool Grand (including Slide, Fallen, Benson's Back, Long Distance Mistake),
Eric continues to hone his writing and direction on his decidedly diverse rock EP.
Eric recently recorded at Saturation Acres studio,
working with producers Brett Alexander & Paul
Smith (The Badlees, Breaking Benjamin, The Cellarbirds) throughout July and early August.
(C)9:50 LOVELESS (NEW YORK, NY)
Hailing from both New York City and Boston, Loveless harnesses wall-of-sound
American guitar rock to melodic Brit-pop, both brawny and shamelessly beautiful,
making their powerful, layered sound seem effortless. The band's debut full-length CD
will be out this fall on Q Division Records.
(D)10:30 FOOLED BY APRIL (BOSTON, MA)
The style would be brit-pop meets garage-rock, except that it's
not British and they actually play in a basement, not a garage.
Regardless, Fooled By April is celebrating the release of their
debut EP, produced by Mike Daly (Whiskeytown). In addition to
their relentless touring of the Northeast, Midwest and South, the
band has played showcases at the CMJ Music Marathon in New
York City and a showcase at SXSW 2003 in Austin this past
March.
(C)11:10 SILVERTIDE (PHILADELPHIA, PA)
We may be approaching a time in rock and roll when a band has finally
come along to transform the scene and shift
what fans want and expect. Their name is SILVERTIDE.
Bubbling up from the teenage wasteland of Northeast Philadelphia,
SILVERTIDE seem beamed straight off the pages of Creem magazine,
sent to revive the live action music show and reintroduce classic
rock for their generation.
(D)11:50 HOTSOCKY (NEW YORK, NY)
HotSocky play New-Tone Power-Pop-punk songs that combine raw guitars,
addictive in-ya-face melodies, powerful vocals, and Queen-esque harmonies.
They've been compared to bands such as Cheap Trick, XTC, and Guided By
Voices and described as cartoon music for super heroes. Jim Carroll and The
Ramones meet Matthew Sweet.
(C)12:30 ROTOGLOW (FAIRFAX, VA)
ROTOGLOW's every kind of energy you can imagine.
A sonic adventure, genuine feeling channeled
through rocking, vocal/guitar-driven chops. They
don't try to write 'fast'/'slow'/'love'/'hate' songs.
They can't be pigeonholed. Groove with ROTOGLOW
and find something for all the different
emotions/moods you experience.
